From our friends over at the Crunchboard, it looks like a new online photography venture needs a new CEO. If you think you have what it takes, hit these guys up!
According to the wonderful folks at TechCrunch, Flickr has gone multi-lingual and now supports French, German, Korean, Italian, Portuguese, Spanish and Traditional Chinese.
Read about it on TechCrunch or on the Flickr Blog
TechCrunch also mentions that Video uploading will be coming soon…not sure how I feel about that one, but I’m sure Flickr will do it up right!
Canon’s Director of Media and Customer Relationships has posted his always educational Tech Tips for June. This month, Chuck covers a lot of ground, including ISO concerns, CF card write speeds and more.
This past week, the CameraPorn crew was lucky enough to get permission to shoot the performances of Writtenhouse and the Eric Mcfadden Trio at the Viper Room in Hollywood. Being that it was our first opportunity to shoot a concert, I thought it might be valuable to share my experience and methods, and some of the hot photos.
L7foto has posted a short, but informative article explaining circular polarizer and neutral density filters along with some sample images. If you are like many others new to the photo game, this could provide you with some valuable explanation on two of the most popular types of lens filters.

After multiple suggestions from friends and readers in combination with the fact that today a friend joined us in our DSLR obsession with his own shiny new 30D and corresponding accessories, I was inspired to share my thoughts on the most effective ways to get started on your own fanatic DSLR journey. Being that my goal is to make the the “ultimate” guide, this post will be part one in a series of three. I’ll start out in part one by discussing what it takes to get started as an educated DSLR consumer, including shopping and research resources. In part two, I will discuss different equipment options broken down into three categories, corresponding to small, medium and large budgets. Part three will focus primarily on getting the shot, mentioning basic tried and true techniques as well as an outline of the best sites and blogs I frequently use for learning and reference.
Before jumping into it, I’d like to preface the whole deal with the statement that these are merely suggestions, and come from my own experiences becoming a DSLR-aholic. As much as I wish I was, (Canon, where you at?) I’m not being paid, endorsed, yadda yadda yadda for any of this. The choices I’ve made are the choices I feel I would or should have made if I was properly educated prior to jumping into photography. I’d also like to say that it is no coincidence it’s all Canon based. I happen to be a “Canon guy” only because its where I started based on suggestions from friends and it is the realm in which I can most effectively make suggestions. At this point I’ve used both Nikons and Canons, and though I definitely have no ill thoughts toward Nikon, my preference is generally with Canon products. Why? I think we should leave that one for a whole other post. All that said, lets get to the cameraporn…
The folks at engadget have reported that Canon has developed a fifty megapixel CMOS prototype. Thats completely insane… What does this mean to you and me? Not too much…yet. But just goes to show you how quickly sensor technology is advancing, and makes you wonder about what the future holds.
As promised, I bring you On Location: Trinidad. My apologies for the lack of posts as late, but returning from a long trip always warrants a bit of catch-up time. This time around “On Location” is going to follow a different, more interesting (i hope) format, to share with all of you the excellent photo experiences I had while visiting Trinidad.
Trinidad, making up one of the two islands of the country of Trinidad and Tobago, is the southernmost of all the Caribbean islands, sitting only 10.5 degress north of the equator. I’ve found that of the populated Caribbean islands, Trinidad is one of the less well known, especially in the U.S. I would venture to guess that the reasons for this lie in the fact that, where most Caribbean islands are known as vacation spots with beaches and posh resorts, Trinidad thrives on its own natural resources, including natural gas and oil, and does not depend on tourism to survive. If someone does “know” Trinidad, then most likely they know it because of Carnival. Second in size only to Brazil’s, this is the time of the year the whole country “gets its sin on” with dancing, drinking and all all types of debauchery before the holy days of Lent.
