<description>Even under fair use, you need to credit images if you know whom they belong to. The screenshots of the websites it is pretty obvious who owns them, and where someone can go to get an image from them. However there are 4 images (shark, books, eye, and person) I do not know whose images these are.

Yes, a blog is considered editorial and fair-use applies, but I think as photographers we need to show respect for each other's work and hold ourselves to a high standard. Just because everyone has a camera these days does not make them a photographer. As a photographer you need aware of how and where you show your work effects others. What you do sets a president for others. If you get in the habit of crediting others, so will other photographers.

There is currently legislation before congress about orphan works; works of art that a publisher, or business would like to use in its' product but cannot find the copyright owner. If someone came to your site, saw one of those pictures they could claim they could not find the copyright holder and are allowed to use it under the orphan works act. (Please keep in mind nothing has been passed yet and many professional organizations are out there lobbing for all the photographer.)

Now I realize that if I look through all the links below the pictures I could probably find who owns the rights and could contact them. But I am very consonance and aware of the copyright issues, and I want to make sure that the rights holder gets credit for their work. But there a lot of people out there who don't care, or just don't know.

Sorry for the long reply, but I think it is something that we all need to work together and teach each other.

Really good tutorial on copyright...

Another good site that covers a lot of material...

<description>60 websites I can't live without and that many comments and still no one mentioned good old Jörg Colberg's "Conscientious," the last word in blogs for fine art photography as far as I'm concerned. And, I mean, come on, he and APE get into some good dialogs with each other in each other's comments. I work for a camera retailer, and I check Conscientious daily, it's introduced me to several of my favorite photographers and brought several bits of news to my attention.
