Thank you very much! We are very appreciative for your kind consideration and support!
Nice collection of links. Thanks for the plug.
Nice links - thanks for sharing, Thomas. I got distracted from work checking them out
I love all these links but I hate the fact that I end up spending so much time looking at all the gorgeous sites!
Um, holy crap! I can’t believe that I’m even mentioned, let alone in the list. Thanks for the honor.
BTW, since you’re in LA, let’s plan a photowalk that you can attend! I’m working on one in Pasadena, maybe June or July.
@Trevor - Oh stop! Photowalking is blowin up, all becasue of you
Definitely gotta plan a photowalk…. For some reason every time theres one in LA i’m out of town!!
Ridiculous. I’m not even gonna try to click all those.
Who am I kidding?
By the way, I’m with Trevor — I’m not going to forget you for this next photowalk that’ll be in Pasadena.
Only one word. Super.
Great list! We read a lot of these blogs listed.
I find Photub useful when there are posts. It tends to go in spurts though.
Somebody already made a OPML file of all this pretty stuff?
This is a great list. Thanks for going to all of this trouble!
Now I have to resist the urge to bookmark and subscribe too all those, the couple that I clicked on were amazing. Great article!
Awesome list, thx!
I’ve always kind of enjoyed http://www.fredmiranda.com = and am generally amazed at the worked turned in for ‘assignments.’
Excellent list, thanks.
May I recommend one more to your list of Amazing Photographer Portfolios:

Each morning (french hour), at breakfast time, he offers you a picture from Australia, Canada, Argentina, China, Japan, Kenya, France and many other countries. I recommend you to visit this site, it a good way to begin your day with good vibes ! And tell me if you like it

Or luminous-landscape.com?
-K

Umm…what about the world’s largest collection of sports photographers: http://www.SportsShooter.com
i don’t see how you can go without Shorpy, the 100-year-old photoblog.
http://www.shorpy.com/

The Digital Camera Resource Page is a great site that uses a consistent and thorough reviews on various camera models.

Don’t forget http://www.sportsshutter.com. Amazing action sports portfolio.
You also missed http://www.MusicPhotographers.net. This is an online community dedicated to professional music photographers. It advocates sound business practices and helps protect the rights of professional music photographers. There are also many trade organizations you missed .. ASMP, EP, PPA, NPPA, Stock Artist Alliance, RMStock, WHPPA, etc, etc, etc.
For a forum on large format (4×5 on up) film photography, check out http://www.largeformatphotography.info/forum/
Thank you! I just recently bought a new digital SLR and am learning the art of photography all over again. All of these links are tremendously helpful.
I really enjoy http://www.nikoncafe.com as well as http://www.nikonians.org/.
There are some good sites for us Nikon Lovers
Nice list, but why on earth do you have Digital Photography School in your list. With all due respect, it can hardly be called a valuable photography website, even for beginners… it’s just another mashup of poorly written tutorials submerged within a sea of ads… another one of the authors gimmick websites to generate ad revenue. But if you believe otherwise, please do explain and justify its iinclusion in this list…
Oh, and a great photoblog for those interested, and very much worthy of inclusion… ‘A Daily Dose of Imagery,’ link follows…
http://wvs.topleftpixel.com/
Strobist is one of my favorite blogs! Been an avid reader on that blog for a little over a year now!
If you’re gonna do porn, may as well make sure you do it through a lens, eh?

Seriously, this is a rockin’ summary of some must-reads. Lots of them are already permanently embedded in my favorites, but there are enough new ones in there that I should have a good time exploring over the next little while. Thanks so much for taking the time to put it together!
If you so love photography why aren’t any of the images credited to the sources? This is copyright infringement. I am sure you want your images credited when they are used, on-line or otherwise, why can’t you do the same for your fellow photographers?
@mandygt - not sure what images you are referring too as I have screenshots or portions of screenshots… On top of that I’m linking to every photographer and blog. I would consider this fair use, no? If not, what would you suggest?
what about abandonments in florida?
http://www.earthintruder.com
http://www.flurbex.com
Nice, personal, quirky, and interesting list. You’ve got a lot of good stuff in there. One site you’re missing though - mine
That’s http://www.PhotographyREVIEW.com, one of the original online Photography sites. We’ve been online since 1999 and were one of the first sites to include user reviews for cameras and other camera gear.
Another good addition would be Uwe Steinmuller’s site, http://www.outbackphoto.com/. Uwe is one of the masters of RAW image processing and fine photographer to boot.
@rygood, You’re square in my book! The trackback is the modern credit.
sweet list =) I also really like lightstalkers.org and National Geographic’s MyShot and YourShot (http://ngm.nationalgeographic.com/your-shot/your-shot)
Take any advice from Ken Rockwell with a grain of salt. He gives tolerable advice for beginners, but by no means should you treat his word as gospel. He has a tendency to trivialize important issues: He sides for JPG in “JPG vs RAW” and has an article entitled “Your gear doesn’t matter”. This is poor advice for those seeking to elevate their craft of their hobby.
http://www.bythom.com is one of the best resources for Nikon DSLR shooters. His updates are not super frequent, but each update is profound.
I also like http://theonlinephotographer.typepad.com a whole lot.
“Rebekka Probably the most popular photographer on flickr, She is from Iceland and shoots AMAZING things.”
wtf Thomas Hawk has nearly 8 times the number of friends on Flickr…
@Victor - Obviously I’m aware of Thomas Hawk, seeing that I linked to him right above Rebekka, and I love his work. And not to overshadow Thomas Hawk’s amazing friend list, but take a look at any of Rebekka’s shots… HUNDREDS of comments within a couple days on almost every shot…
Great collection of links!
I like Digital Photo Pro magazine website because you can search articles for anything on it. Even the current edition.
http://www.digitalphotopro.com/
http://www.hongkongphotogrpahic.com/
You might like this guy’s photography as well. Amazing shots of Hong Kong.
Shorpy.com is the 100-year-old photography blog that brings our ancestors back, at least to the desktop
http://www.shorpy.com
High-Definition Historical Photos
Excellent selection!
Search engine that searches all the sites in the post above (and a few more). Enjoy!
http://www.fotomata.com/
Great list. Dugg, bookmarked and added to delicious!
One of my favorites is dyxum.com. It’s dedicated to the Minolta Alpha Mount cameras including the new Sony DSLR’s.
This is FANTASTIC! Thanks so much for sharing. I now really want to start a photowalking group here in Southern Cali (Orange Co.)! I’ll do it soon, too! You’ve given me great ideas!
Wow! I’m honored to be listed among so many quality bloggers and photographers. Thanks so much
“Person”, thanks for the link to shorpy.com. Very interesting site!
I think the best Flickr add-on site is Flickriver (http://www.flickriver.com). It’s actually more interesting than Flickr Leech because it returns the search results sorted by either Recent or Interestingness, whereas Leech just returns everything all at once (although, sometimes that might be more useful to you, too).
Andy
I’d like to suggest two more:
http://digitaljournalist.org/ It is a web site by and for photo journalists, with a lot of interviews with famous photographers, and the Archived Features section is mind blowing. The site navigation isn’t great, but the content is definately worth the effort.
http://photo.net/ The granddaddy of photo web sites. The forums are excellent, and the tutorials are very good as well. The reviews are a bit spotty.
@nomeus:
Wow, I checked out:
http://www.earthintruder.com and
http://www.flurbex.com
Amazing stuff!
APUG.org, yo.
60 websites I can’t live without and that many comments and still no one mentioned good old Jörg Colberg’s “Conscientious,” the last word in blogs for fine art photography as far as I’m concerned. And, I mean, come on, he and APE get into some good dialogs with each other in each other’s comments. I work for a camera retailer, and I check Conscientious daily, it’s introduced me to several of my favorite photographers and brought several bits of news to my attention.
http://www.jmcolberg.com/weblog/
I think this is a great list and I will be mentioning on next weeks podcast.
http://www.photogeek.tv
Hey we should be on the list too….
What? No PhotoGeek.TV?? This needs to be rectified …..
Seriously though, looks to be a good list, and I’ll be making sure I check many of these out. Good work guys!
Even under fair use, you need to credit images if you know whom they belong to. The screenshots of the websites it is pretty obvious who owns them, and where someone can go to get an image from them. However there are 4 images (shark, books, eye, and person) I do not know whose images these are.
Yes, a blog is considered editorial and fair-use applies, but I think as photographers we need to show respect for each other’s work and hold ourselves to a high standard. Just because everyone has a camera these days does not make them a photographer. As a photographer you need aware of how and where you show your work effects others. What you do sets a president for others. If you get in the habit of crediting others, so will other photographers.
There is currently legislation before congress about orphan works; works of art that a publisher, or business would like to use in its’ product but cannot find the copyright owner. If someone came to your site, saw one of those pictures they could claim they could not find the copyright holder and are allowed to use it under the orphan works act. (Please keep in mind nothing has been passed yet and many professional organizations are out there lobbing for all the photographer.)
Now I realize that if I look through all the links below the pictures I could probably find who owns the rights and could contact them. But I am very consonance and aware of the copyright issues, and I want to make sure that the rights holder gets credit for their work. But there a lot of people out there who don’t care, or just don’t know.
Sorry for the long reply, but I think it is something that we all need to work together and teach each other.
Really good tutorial on copyright…
http://www.pacaoffice.org/library.shtml
Another good site that covers a lot of material…
http://asmp.org/
thanks for all this wonderful information. it’s amazing how the web can be utilized as such an educational tool. (oh, and i’m likin’ the new look of the site)
thanks again.
A wonderful resource. Thanks for the links.
Hre is one more for you: http://www.nikonrumors.com
Great post! I’ve been looking for a list of some of the best photography sites, and found this list amazing!! One question, though - which site would be your favorite, if you had to pick only one?? And yes, you did destroy my productivity, but it was worth it
Thanks!
Wow. I can’t believe Scott Kelby didn’t make the list….
http://www.scottkelby.com
@Bill - #16 Photoshop Insider… its the name of scott’s blog
What about dpreview.com! Do a search for digital cameras and dpreview is number one. Hell its where most of the blogs listed get their information from including engadget and gizmodo
A lot of photographers are getting into photoblogging these days and as such I’d recommend checking out http://www.aminus3.com/ which is a pretty solid photoblog hosting service.
Wow, that’s a lot to digest, all great sites. My goal is to hit five new sites a day…
