OMFG! Flickr has Video!

Via the Flickr blog, video has now been launched on Flickr! Pro users are limited to 90 second clips which play in a snazzy looking player. Batched along with it the maximum photo upload size for Pro members has been doubled to 20MB. I haven’t yet formed an opinion on how I feel about the video, being that I don’t shoot video, but I guess if anyones gonna do it right, it would be Flickr. Firstly, what do you guys think? Secondly, check out the full deets here.

Great that they added video… But I will leave it to the pros. Stills are my true love!

Personally, not to excited about it. Like you said, I don’t shoot video. I guess it’s great for people that do, but I imagine that those people already use YouTube or some other service. I don’t think there was a real need to bring it to Flickr.

Wes, I think the difference, and i could be wrong, is that Flickr will offer higher quality vids than YouTube compression offers. At least that was my first impression when viewing the Flickr samples.

What I find funny is that I had no idea this was a new feature. Needless to say that I just started uploading photos onto Flickr and have been addicted for the past two weeks. I used my Nikon P5100 for a day with the family shoot, nothing professional and captured a small video of my brothers son. When I uploaded the photos onto Flickr I saw the option for video so I said what the hect, why not. I love how fast it uploaded the video and the quality output is just as good as if I were to view the original file on my mac. I love Flickr. =D

I guess one good thing would be to load a gallery of your photos with transitions, music, etc., in a movie format for maximum compatibility.
