Heading up to San Francisco for the weekend, and I’ll be joining around 40 others for a photowalk. This will not only be my first photowalk, but also my first time in San Francisco. Anyone else planning on attending? Any suggestions on what to see in SF?

I’m a cityscape person when it comes to SF.
The view near the top of California Street (you gotta go to the top) looking down towards the bay bridge support, which is dead center of the street, is really dynamic. The rail car tracks also go all the way down the street for a great added dimension to the photo!
Just wait at the crosswalk, and when it’s time to cross, just stop in the middle of the tracks and shoot. You can probably rattle off few shots at various zooms.
Also, walk into the North Beach area. There are a lot of historic buildings along Columbus Avenue.
Chinatown offers great xlose-up shots of signage, fabrics and street scenes in general.
Coit Tower, The TransAmerica Tower, The Palace of Fine Arts are good landmarks for photos. For scenes along the water’s edge, the Embarcadero and Fisherman’s Wharf are great too!
If you are in the mood for a field trip, you can take a morning excursion to Muir Woods (redwood forest). Any hotel lobby will have a brochure with the company to call for a morning bus ride up and back!
Have fun!
