Tim, I'll give you my 2 cents on Canon if you like. I would get the 40D with the 24-70mm f/2.8 L USM lens. That;'ll run you a little over $2K.

B&H Photo is the best web site to buy from. I've bought most of gear from them at substantially less than listed price in stores. They're not the cheapest on the web (close), but they are CERTAINLY the most reputable.

Sorry I can't comment on Nikon as I don't have one. I understand they are right in the neighborhood with Canon, so you can't go wrong with either.

One decision to go with Canon I used is that they are more widely used and I have "exchanged/borrowed" lenses with colleagues since most of them use Canon.

P.S.
If you want to kick in an extra grand, then the 5D is for you since it is full frame. You get the MOST out of your lenses since there's no cropping, and the picture quality is top notch since bigger sensors = less noise.

Great picutes.

I want to get a good solid cameria but don't want to spend over $2000ish w/lens. Would you recommend the Canon 40D or Nikon 300? Also, what's the best internet site to buy a camera on? A lot of the webistes offer really low prices but seem too low.

I especially love the first picture. Did you do any kind of touch-ups on it?

You've inspired me to pull out ten of mine... Hmmmm... which ones?

Nice first shot you have there. It looks as if you have a giant reflector shining on the house.
