Could it be? New 5d on January 24th??

Via Gizmodo, it looks like a Swedish Canon exec had some loose lips and mentioned a new DSLR will be dropped in late January prior to the PMA. Could be a new Rebel, but my guess is the 5D successor.

Check out the story.

Looks like it was a new rebel… but with a 12MP rebel out there now, they can’t surely leave the 5D unchanged. Who would buy an expensive 12MP 5D when you can now get a Rebel that costs 1/3rd of the price and all you loose is the FF sensor. Yup, the new rebel even has Spot Metering…

I actually see the new Rebel challenging the 40D, not the 5D. By losing the FF (full frame) you lose a LOT. Literally. When you need a full frame, you need a full frame. For landscapes, tight, wide-angle interiors, etc.

So, I think the caparison is between the 40D and Rebt XSi since they are both 1.6 crops, but the 40D is only 10MP where the XSi is 12MP, and costs less.
