Quick Look: Noct-Nikkor 58mm f/1.2 Manual

Nikkor 58mm f/1.2 Manual

If you’ve never played with any old-school manual focus lenses, specifically Nikons, you are missing out. Lenses like this are magic and they sure don’t make ‘em like they used to. This thing is small, unexpectedly heavy and ROCK SOLID. The focus ring is as smooth as butter, and the shots… well here a few quick samples.

The true strength of the Noct lens lies in night photography. Virtually any lens will produce “bat shaped” halos around small light sources – but the Noct won’t. Being a 1.2 lens helps as well for night shots of course.

Nice summary review, I also have this lens. It is really a sweet piece of glass.
