He puts (often spontaneously met) subjects at ease while making *everyone* feel like a rockstar. The results mean street people and real rockstars are aestheically inseperable. Each subject's eyes are compelled to tell the story of the shot and their lives. No hiding behind a mask when KK is rocking the fat lens right up close. Even the legions of tech geeks (and uhhh ... err ... nerds) who show up at conferences where KK is shooting end up looking dangerously hip instead of disasterly goofy. PS This is coming from a guy with 35 years of pics of me with eyes closed, mouth open, looking like captured the high-school yearbook photog or my aunt Mildred at an awkward birthday party followed by 2 years of shots of looking mysterious, grainy, nicely-tough, grizzled, thoughtful, confused, etc - and usually grinning with my teeth closed and eyes open.
